Isaiah 55:9: As the heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways higher than your ways.
“Bold prayers honor God, and God honors bod prayers...If your prayers aren’t impossible to you, they are insulting to God. Why? Because they don’t require divine intervention.” -- Mark Batterson

The Circle Maker, by Mark Batterson, has really challenged my thinking on praying. I lead our Sunday School group through a series on what it means to make your prayers bold and circle these prayers. I have continued my own learning about prayers through a 40 day devotional, Draw the Circle.
God takes ordinary people and does amazing things through these people. However, do you ever wonder if what you are accomplishing is really what God has intended for us? Do we ever look at the “bigness of God”? Here’s where this book has me thinking and changing how I pray. Don’t get me wrong, I am still praying all the prayers I had before, I am just more specific and deliberate about them. I circle bible verses that relate to what/who I am praying for.
I have also realized that I have to pray through and pray hard. Sometimes I have given up on my prayers because they are not being answered (hmmm...all I need is a little patience). However, God’s plan is far better than my plan and He will answer my prayers when He wanted them answered. This book has also shown that taking risks and drawing big circles that glorify God, we begin to experience the answers to some awesome prayers!
I have been praying about career paths and going back to college for over two years and just the other day, God placed on my heart to go look at UNK’s graduate program. To my amazement, they are offering a new technology leadership program!! So now I am taking the risk and putting my faith in our Heavenly Father as I begin the adventure/process of applying for college all over again. Luckily, this program is all online, but I will need God’s help in balance a family, family activities, a career, and college coursework . Yep...there I go, I am just going to have to circle "balance".
So I ask you, do you have a bold prayer you need to ask God? Circle your prayer request...stick to praying each day...and you too will see a change in your prayers and prayer commitment. If we do all the little things like they are big things, God will do the little things, like they are big things.
So I challenge you…”Just Circle It…”
