Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: rejoice. - Philippians 4:4
This morning I asked our pastor's wife how she was doing and her response was, "To blessed to be stressed." My immediate thought was, "She is right!" Then I realized how many times have I said this to myself and not listen to myself as I find myself stressing out...even my to-do list notes, have foot notes sometimes! All too often, I let the worries of daily life -- such as schedules, to-do lists, children activities, what to make for supper -- get to me, in all reality I just need to remember that I am "to blessed to be stressed".
Dirty dishes are not my favorite, washing laundry isn't my favorite, why cooking or baking isn't even a favorite of mine...instead of stressing about these, I need remind myself I get to go these things for my family. Keeping a gratitude journal has tremendously helped change my perspective on the blessings I have in my life. Keeping a list of everything God has blessed me with from the ability to make a frozen pizza or mean plate of nachos to the strong support system I have, takes me from "stressing out" to being thankful.
I do know God has never given me more than I can handle at one time, but during those times I need to chose to lean on Him and not let my worries overtake me. As the scripture from Philippians 4:4 states, rejoice in the Lord always. Be thankful for what He has provided. My challenge to you today is to start a gratitude journal...just start making a list of all the blessings God has provided you with and don't finish the list today, write one or two things down each day. Watch how your attitude will grow into saying I am "too blessed to be stressed!"
