Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. - Psalm 34:3
Tonight I had the privilege of attending the most personal and Christ centered wedding of any ceremony, I have ever attended. The ceremony began with the video documentary of the couple's story but by the time the bride walked down the isle, I could just feel God's presence in the chapel. The heartfelt message from the officiant -- who was the bride's father -- was not only to his daughter but to the groom as well. However, the most powerful part of the ceremony was after the lighting of the unity candle when both sets parents of the couple and the bride and groom prayed privately together at the front of the church. Quite a powerful moment as we witnessed this new couple beginning their life together with a family prayer moment.
This made me ponder the true importance of prayer in our daily lives. This I believe, "That prayer and studying His Word are essential to to keeping our God at the center of our lives." I believe that we draw our strength from Him through prayer and we also need to thank Him through prayer. I believe that when we pray to God, we also get the opportunity to listen. It doesn't matter when or where your quiet time takes place, I hear God the loudest when I am exercising, He definitely lays it all on my heart during this time! At the same time, I wonder how I can encourage prayer and exulting His name together as a family. I suspect if I do a better job of purposeful prayer with my children and husband we would all see how powerful prayer is, even in the tiniest of differences.
Kim and Kirk thank you for not only giving me the privilege of witnessing your son's wedding today, but thank you for opening my eyes wider to why we need to exalt His name together as one.
