This wall is one of my favorites. My husband doesn’t know this, but his office could easily be one my favorite places to sit. One look at his wall you will see: joy, goals achieved, a multitude of determination, effort, and a never give up attitude. More often than not, one look at this wall and tears well up in my eyes.

I think this wall began as a starting point for his passion outside of education -- photography. And just not any photo can make the wall. You see, the wall in his office is filled with many proud moments of his career at Milford High School. However, his wall is so much more...his wall tells  stories.  His wall in an inspiration.

The focal point of the wall is Steve Job’s quote:

“Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes...the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules...You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things...they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
Yet, it is the supporting photos around the center that tell the story. You see, this wall displays the crazy ones with the never give up attitude in constant pursuit to reach their high school athletic goals. You will see my husband standing next to a student who was not fond of rules, not fond of school, with his high school diploma. You will see pure joy on display, not just for the person in the photo, but for their teammates.

I do not know every single story after high school, however, the stories I do know of, the students in the photos are making the world a better place. The All-American basketball player. The All-American wrestler. The students on mission trips. The students who have received their college diplomas. They still pursuing their dreams and aspirations. They are leaving their mark on the world and making a difference.

What you don’t see, the people in the background, the one's who encouraged, who inspired, who dared these students to dream. We don't see those people who held these students accountable, but without them, some students may not have reached their goals. Those in the background, they are genius.

Where do you fit in? Are you in the photo or are  you in the background?

I believe this wall cannot be ignored. We all see the world differently. However, all of us are genius. All of us can change the world.
