For unto a Savior is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. -- Isaiah 9:6
We spend each Advent season, preparing our hearts to be full of joy, love, peace, and hope. Today, the day of ultimate celebration where the most important gift is given to us...Jesus. God’s Christmas gift to us, a Savior born unto us. As I look at the carefully crafted decorations around our house and reflect upon the season, I am thankful for the time spent with family and friends, filled with hope for the coming year, and full of joy. Yes, a joyful heart. Philippians 4:4 states, “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again -- rejoice!
Isn’t this why God gave us our Christmas gift of Jesus...the gift of love, joy, hope, and peace. However, God’s plan for us isn’t unwrapping the best gift of all only today. He wants us to live with Jesus each and every day. He wants us to use His gift to us, to be a gift to others. He wants us to share His love, share joy, spread peace, and be hopeful in His plans for us. How can we do this? By living His word and by using our God-given talents to bless those around us.
The greatest Christmas gift didn’t come just for today. I encourage you to unwrap the best Christmas gift every day beyond this Christmas season. Live each day to filled with joy, full of love, heart filled with hope and peace. Live each day knowing that Jesus is the Light of the World and His light will shine through us
